Participants will need to produce their valid Cycling SA licence card in order to receive their entry to the event.
NON CSA registered entrants will need to take out a day license for the event for R35.00.

Long Route

  • Start is on the R44 (direction Wellington) outside Nelson’s Creek Wine Estate.
  • Left into Wellington Industrial area and follow the road until Hermon .
  • Turn Left onto the R46.Continue past Riebeeck Kasteel until the R45/ Malmesbury intersection.
  • Turn Left onto the R45 and main robot intersection in Malmesbury Turn Left onto the R302 heading towards Durbanville.
  • Continue until the R27 road Turn Left. Turn Left at the R44 and head for the finish.
  • Finish is on the R44 (direction Wellington) outside Nelson’s Creek Wine Estate

Note: The 99km route is 2km’s shorter due to road works outside Malmesbury. Over the hill from Riebeeck Kasteel cyclists will turn left and head back with and additional loop via Lady Loch.(this route is more scenic and faster)

Medium Route

  • Start is on the R44 (direction Wellington) outside Nelson’s Creek Wine Estate.
  • Left into Wellington Industrial area.
  • Left into Lady Loch Street and across the bridge and continuing right to the R45.
  • Turn Right onto R45 and then Turn Left onto the Klipheuwel/Voorpaardeberg Road.
  • At the intersection with the R27 Turn Left. Turn Left at the R44 and head for the finish.
  • Finish is on the R44 (direction Wellington) outside Nelson’s Creek Wine Estate

Note: The 46km route is 2km’s shorter due to road works at the Lady Loch bridge. A new kink on route takes you past the Lady Loch Bridge, cyclists will really enjoy this new route.

Short Route Description

  • Start is on the R44 (direction Stellenbosch) outside Nelson’s Creek Wine Estate.
  • Right at Paardeberg intersection .
  • Left at the Paardeberg /Klipheuwel and Sonop intersection.
  • At the intersection with the R27 Turn Left. Turn Left at the R44 and head for the finish.
  • Finish is on the R44 (direction Wellington) outside Nelson’s Creek Wine Estate.

From Cape Town
Take the N1 from Cape Town towards Paarl. Take Exit No. 47 (Klapmuts / Stellenbosch off ramp). At the bottom of the off ramp turn left – this is the R44. Continue on the R44 for approximately 17, 8 kilometres. You will approach Nelsons Creek on the left hand side.

From Paarl
From the centre of Paarl, continue following the main road, North. The road will fork, continue on the left fork. Further along you are given an option to fork again. Follow the Malmesbury/ Wellington road (right fork) until “t” into the R44. At this stop street turn right and Nelsons Creek will be on your left.

From Stellenbosch
From the centre of Stellenbosch, take the R44 towards Klapmuts. Go through the 4-way stop in Klapmuts and under the N1 fly-over. Continue along the R44 for approximately 18km. Nelson’s Creek will be on your left hand side.

In accordance with the regulations of Cycling South Africa the prize fund for the Engen Dynamic Cycle Challenge will not exceed R30 000.00 in order to retain the status of a Provincial Classic cycling event.

Each Team Manager / Independent Prize Winner is to provide the Race Secretary with bank account details before departing the prize giving area on the day of the event. All payments will be made via electronic transfer.

Event Rules

  1. RaceTec is the official timing system. NO CHIP- NO RESULT. Anyone starting ahead of his/her seeded time will be disqualified, Results will be displayed on www.edcc.co.za and www.racetec.co.za
  2. No person under the age of 12 may participate in the 99km race. Any participant under the age of 12 in the 60km fun ride must be accompanied by an adult.
  3. All cyclists must keep to the left of the road at all times AS THERE IS NO ROAD CLOSURE FOR THIS EVENT.
  4. Cyclist must ride in a predicable & responsible manner and obey all traffic rules, traffic officers and marshals and adhere to normal rules of the road. They must stop at intersections if instructed to do so
  5. NO PARTICIPANT MAY COMPETE WITHOUT WEARING A HARD SHELL CYCLING HELMET. Only commercially produced helmets, preferably meeting ANSA or Shell standards, may be worn
  6. No participant may, directly or indirectly take food or drink or other assistance from any moving vehicle, bicycle or machine, at any time, other than from another participant.
  7. Only approved team vehicles are permitted on the route
  8. Slipstreaming behind a vehicle is not permitted.
  9. No tri-bars are permitted
  10. The route will be shown on the map. It is the sole responsibility of the entrant to know the route and the organizers take no responsibility for persons deviating from the route or any consequences of such actions.
  11. Entry fees will not be refunded should the race be cancelled or stopped for reasons beyond the control of the race organizers.
  12. No substitutions will be permitted.
  13. CATEGORY WINNERS NOT PRESENT AT THE PRIZE GIVING WILL FORFEIT THE PRIZE. 10% of prize money will be deducted for CSA.
  14. The race is held under the auspices of CSA and the PPA.
  15. Junior, U16, U14 and U12 riders must present their bicycles for inspection at the end of the race in order to qualify for prize money.
  16. LICENCES The new licensing rules will be strictly enforced. All riders must have a CSA or Cyclosport License or must be a member of a club, with a valid club card and the club must have registered the club member with CSA. Riders who do not have any of these will have to pay R30 for a day permit. Riders in this category WILL NOT BE SEEDED, regardless of ability.
  17. Cut off times will be strictly adhered to. NO rider may continue if he/she is outside the cut-off time and will be transported to the finish by a sweep vehicle.
  18. Late entry on the day for funride categories only. STRICTLY NO REGISTERED CATEGORY RIDERS MAY ENTER ON THE DAY.
